Nurturing Intergenerational Relationships by Marzia Hassan
Research shows that both the young and the older members of a family and community benefit when different generation relate and work well with each other, there is more harmony for all.
During this seminar we will:
1) Discuss why it is important to foster intergenerational relationships
2) Explore modern challenges to such relationships
3) Reveal some simple ways each of us can improve relationships
Brief Bio: Marzia Hassan (LLB, MSW, RSW) is an author, public speaker and therapist working with individuals and families. Marzia is the author of “Parenting in the Age of Facebook: Raising the Net Generation”. She facilitates parenting and family skills workshops all over the world.
After obtaining her master’s in social work, she started Family Connections International, a psychotherapy practice based in Toronto and online. In addition to pursuing her passion for coaching on building better relationships, Marzia is also chairperson of Jaffari Support Services and serves on the board of directors of various NGOs.
Report on Shayk Arif Hussain’s Muharram’s Lectures by Arsheen Dewjee
Muharram lectures of 2018 were very well attended. Many ideas and concepts were presented by the Sheikh which needed to be further analyzed and discussed by the community. The OIL board decided to prepare a report to promote the practical application of ideas. The report will be presented by Sister Arsheen Dewjee in depth with Quranic Verses and citations.
Arsheen is a freelance writer and editor for business websites. She has a Bachelors in World Religions and a Masters in Near and Middle Eastern studies, specialising in Islamic studies from University of Toronto. She has been a student of the Quran and Quranic Arabic for 10 years, having studied Quranic Arabic in Damascus, Syria.
