Position: Project Coordinator

The Organization for Islamic Learning (OIL) seeks a confident and capable administrator to manage day-to-day operations. The successful candidate will be aligned with OIL’s motto of “Enlightenment through Awareness” and committed to seeing OIL flourish as an inclusive educational group. The Project Coordinator will help the organization meet its short- and long-term goals as established by the Management Board. The Project Coordinator will report directly to OIL’s Management Board (Board of Directors).

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement OIL’s executive strategy via daily operations to meet organizational goals within agreed upon budgets and timelines. This includes the following: 
    • handling logistics and marketing for all scheduled programs and events
    • updating website content; recording, editing and posting videos of events 
    • managing and growing our social media presence, including promoting our website
    • issuing all email communications to our members and community at large, as well as maintaining all mailing lists; monitoring email accounts 
    • nurture membership by encouraging the participation of all members
    • facilitating the endeavours of the Youth Group
  • Monitor and report on operational problems and opportunities 
  • Build and maintain partnerships and relationships with Muslim and non-Muslim communities and organizations; scout speakers for future events; and lead our collaborations with other groups
  • Administer our contingent of volunteers
  • Manage and update organizational documents, media and resources

 

Qualifications

  • 2 years experience in corporate or non-profit administration 
  • Demonstrated experience in event planning and project management 
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other productivity software (Google Docs)
  • Intermediate-level (or higher) proficiency with social media and marketing platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, MailChimp)
  • Familiarity with WordPress and website authoring tools

Compensation

This is a part time position with an expected commitment of 20–35 hours per month. Pay: $25 per hour.
