OIL is proud to present this Saturday daytime seminar during the month of Muharram:

“Navigating New Age Spiritualities & Technologies Today: Who are we as human beings and what will we become?”

When: Saturday July 22 from 11am–2:30pm
Where: Casa Ricca Banquet Hall, 4801 Steeles Avenue West, Toronto
Cost: Free
Important: Please REGISTER as part of our Muharram program.

About the Seminar:

Employing case studies and encouraging group dialogue, Dr Imranali Panjwani will lead participants through an interactive seminar that will tackle two fundamental themes: the proliferation of spiritual gurus, methods, plurality of beliefs and motivational speakers that all attempt to ‘revive our spirit’; and the rise of technology and social media that have become key in reaching large audiences, and therefore are now intertwined with our daily life and thoughts. Whatever the goodness in the aforementioned approaches, we must critically ask the following questions, which affect young and old alike:

  • How do we distinguish between authentic and temporary spirituality?
  • Does the Qur’an confirm all spiritual methods and approaches regardless of the faith or person that preaches it?
  • What is the value of our rituals? If we do not find meaning in some of them, what does Islam say about balancing rituals, meditation and personal growth?
  • Is the current technological evolution good or bad for our spiritual growth and knowledge? Is this the will of God?
  • Will we become half-human, half-robots in the future? What happens to our humanity?

Lunch will be provided after the seminar and after Zuhr salat.

So please join us for an enlightening discussion in an environment where everyone is welcome and we all can learn from each other. We look forward to seeing you there. Don’t forget to REGISTER.
